For the first time ever, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or PUBG is introducing bots into the game and aimed at giving less skilled players some in-game advantages.
The newly introduced feature comes as part of the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds‘ most recent version 7.1 update and seems exclusive to the console version of the game. Specifically, in both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Aimed for New and Unskilled Players
The bots are implemented to render a needed leg up to those who are fresh and unskilled in the game. Conversely, more experienced users are less likely to see the bots.
As it appears, the principle behind the bots is to figuratively give greenhorn players a ‘warm-up’ to the game. Players who get to compete against said bots are more likely to proceed to later rounds than when dealing with ruthless and competitive players.

Alternatively, the system also appears targeted at giving players a chance for victory and acquire the necessary experience to adapt to the game.
Not making everything easier for players from start to finish is the fact that the probability of bots appearing gradually declines as the player develops in skill and becomes competitive.
Feels Like Human
Mitigating the risk of bots causing in-game and potentially game-breaking mishaps are well-placed ‘navigation meshes.’ Strategically placed in critical corners of the game’s maps, they prevent the bots from going through ‘cheap deaths.’
However, the developers ensure that the bots could still navigate dangerous terrains, essentially giving them ‘player-like’ capabilities.
Not giving unskilled players too much advantage, however, is the ‘at-par-to-human’ shooting capability. This means that victory is still something that greenhorns have to strive for and work for. Not necessarily one served in the metaphorical silver platter as facing dummies that cannot shoot properly.
Furthermore, making the idea of killing bots more enticing is the good loot. However, bots will not necessarily be equipped with amazing items from the get-go.
Rather, each bot will have the proclivity towards getting valuable items for players to claim through a kill. This clever notion makes every bot encountered in-game to become a probable high-valued target.
Continued Updates for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
Reportedly, the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will be getting some needed updates from PUBG Corp. throughout 2020. With a specific interest in the console version, the game gets some weapon tweaks.
In addition, the game company also seeks too narrow the gap between console and PC versions. The two established as having a disparity of 2 weeks’ worth of contents.
