Sony announced that it would hold its next PlayStation 5 event next week. The tech giant will broadcast their showcase on September 16, Wednesday.
The PlayStation blog announced that the online show would “feature updates on the latest titles from Worldwide Studios and our world-class development partners.” The PlayStation 5 hype event will start at 4:00 p.m. EST/1:00 p.m. PT.
Fans waiting for retail price and release date of PS5
According to the blog, the digital show will last up to 40 minutes, which is quite long. The event will show off the games coming for the console, including the ones at launch. The live stream will be available on both Twitch and YouTube.
Looking into it, Sony deliberately didn’t mention a few things. Chief among these details include the release date for the console and the retail price. Fans can expect this announcement to give these details a mention.
The price announcement will likely be for the PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition. They come as a contrast to the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Microsoft already went ahead with their reveal, releasing on November 10, at $499 and $299, respectively.
This new PS5 showcase will be the first straight event focused on the PS5 and its upcoming games. Sony showcases so far only include the initial reveal and for a few PS5 games. These include Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Horizon Forbidden West.
Sony is offering a chance to get first dibs on the PS5, even if pre-orders are not yet ready. Fans can also go first in line for the official PS5 accessories.
Industry insider leaks PS5 box contents
So far, fans are waiting for the upcoming PlayStation 5 and any info on its exclusives. Around the same period that Sony announced the game, a leak has also shown up.
Daniel Ahmad, an industry analyst, released an alleged image for the console’s box contents. Within the image, the PS5 has the model number CFI-1015A. The PS5 Digital Edition uses the CFI-1015B model number instead.

The PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition’s box contents will include some standard fare. Apart from the console, both consoles will pack an 825GB SSD. It will also have one controller, base, device cables, and an instruction manual.
The game will also have Astro’s Playroom as a pre-installed game. Astro’s Playroom is a tech demo that acts as an introduction and tutorial to the PS5.
The PlayStation 5 had its potential release date leaked last month, listed as November 20. Even then, fans would have to wait for the official info and when they can start pre-orders.
