Sources said that PlayStation Plus will offer three new titles next month as part of its June free games event.
As May approaches its end, PlayStation Plus members are now looking forward to the upcoming free games for June. Sony has yet to announce the line-up but, speculations and rumors have already started to circulate.
It remains unclear when the announcement will drop. Nevertheless, reports claimed that details will likely emerge as early as Wednesday morning.
While waiting for the confirmation, Comic Book reported that a recent leak went viral. As noted, it has already named the three free games for the new month.
The leaked PlayStation Plus free games for June
The publication explained that the leak first emerged from the Spanish website, Areajugones. Although no one knows whether the claims are legitimate, the alleged PlayStation Plus line-up for the month of June includes Star Wars: Squadrons, Operation: Tango, and Virtua Fighter 5 / Ultimate Showdown.
The outlet emphasized, however, that these titles only came from a leak. Accordingly, they may not be accurate or legitimate, so it is best to manage expectations.
But, it also noted that the Spanish website has a trustworthy reputation when it comes to releasing information and updates about PS Plus ahead of time. Therefore, it has placed many individuals in the middle equation as to whether to believe the leaks or not.
In the end, though, the only way to be sure about the June free games line-up is to wait for Sony’s official announcement.
What publications are saying
Upon the release of the “leak,” many are seemingly inclining toward believing the assertions. But, Forbes provided a quick run-down of the games that will allegedly hit PlayStation Plus next month.
As explained, the three games are a “pretty good haul,” due in part to Star Wars: Squadrons. It reportedly “makes sense” because it is a popular title “enough to get people excited but not a big enough hit to keep away from PS Plus for too long.”
For Operation Tango, it will arrive on June 1. Its official release coincides with the PS Plus free games event, making its inclusion in the line-up a possibility.
Meanwhile, the case appears to be different for Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown. The publication deemed it as “something of a red flag” because the title has yet to be announced.
When will the games be available?
The new free games will become available on PlayStation Plus less than a week after the actual announcement. PS users will likely be able to download and play the games starting June 1.
