A new PlayStation patent, filed recently, suggests that the console will soon be able to make emojis out of players’ facial expressions.
Sony’s latest patent hints at new technology that future PlayStation models will have. It can map a player’s facial expressions to translate them into emojis, to share them with others.
The new PlayStation patent by Sony will be huge.
Gaming while interacting with each other is the norm these days. It has become an integral part of most players’ lives compared to past years.
And considering that, Sony has come up with a new idea to keep them more engaged with their PlayStation consoles in the future.
A new patent filed by the company suggests that it’s working on a technology that can turn players’ facial expressions into emojis. Not just that, they will be able to share them as well in real-time during the gameplay.
Sony’s recent partnership with Discord also hints at its new strategy.
It wants to provide as many features to the players as possible when it comes to communicating with each other because the pandemic forced real-life interactions to be limited, mostly.
Thus, having an option to share feelings and emotions organically is very important, even if it’s in a digital form.
And the new PlayStation patent will make sure that video game lovers keep their interactions going, despite staying indoors.
The patent details suggest that there will be a camera located in the players’ controller. This will allow them to take images of their expressions. Then will translate into various emojis.
It will be interesting to see how this new technology turns out when it’s ready in its entirety.
