The trainers have spoken and it looks like the next Pokemon GO Community Day will feature Weedle this June.
Micky News previously reported Niantic has given its Pokemon GO trainers the democracy to elect which pokemon will be featured every month its Community Day event, for the rest of the year.
This time around, the Community Day voting has been modified in view of the recent global quarantine situation, with votes to be cast on Twitter instead.
As for the mechanics, per the official Pokemon GO announcement, “The Pokémon that receives the most votes by the end of the voting period will be the featured Pokémon for June Community Day. The Pokémon that receives the second-most votes will be featured during July Community Day.”
Voting results are in
On May 24, the official Pokemon GO Twitter account made poll which includes Squirtle, Weedle, Sandshrew, and Gastly. The poll garnered a total of 672,633 votes, with Weedle leading the race bagging 34%. Gastly came in close, with 32%.
Meanwhile, Sandshrew placed third, and Squirtle ranking last.

It was all about getting Beedrill
With the voting polls just recently closing, there hasn’t been any news update as to the mechanics for next month’s Community Day.
Meanwhile, Weedle reportedly won the C-Day race because of Beedrill. Beedrill is the evolved version of Kakuna—which is the evolved version of Weedle.
Beedrill is a known strong PvP contender, specifically a Drill Run Beedrill. Accordingly, the ground-type pokemon, with a maximum of 1846 CP can lead to a Great League win, considering its “strong STAB options”—a 20% Attack bonus added.
The other three pokemon reportedly didn’t have STAB (Same-Type Attack Bonus), which made Weedle an easy choice.
Beedrill’s Poison Jab and Drill Run can challengingly beat Azumarill. Aside from that, Trainers are going for the Weedle C-Day because Beedrill can also sting down Cefable, Meganium, Wigglytuff, Venusaur, Toxicroak, and Deoxys-Defense.
Accordingly, trainers are actually still in the search for a shiny Weedle, which is probably the reason behind the ultimate voting win.
Meanwhile, the May 2020 Community Day featuring Seedot has just ended. For the first in Pokemon GO history, Niantic did a 24-hour C-Day broadcast on YouTube, which symbolizes unity within its community despite these trying times.
Stay tuned for the next upcoming updates of the June 2020 Community Day! What does Niantic have in-store for its trainers this time?
