Niantic is hosting another Pokemon GO community event this October. However, the upcoming event theme upset a lot of fans.
Pokemon GO regularly conducts community events since 2018. This time, Niantic decided to push through the event with players voting on the theme.
The voting launched last August 20. The results will decide which Pokemon will head the September and October event. The choices were Charmander, Caterpie, Grimer, and Porygon.
Initials results were out within 24 hours. Charmander and Porygon were both on the frontlines. Caterpie and Grimer did not garner enough votes against the two Gen 1 favorites.

Upon releasing the results, die-hard Pokemon fans voiced their disappointment on social media.
According to some fans, the result was underwhelming as Charmander already had a dedicated community event back then. On the other hand, the other three choices did not have any yet.
Loyal fans express dismay on social media
Several Twitter users posted their disappointment. The majority of them expressed that the Charmander was a bad choice—that a different type would have been a better option.
Twitter user @CraigStmar82 took a jab on his fellow players.
“If you voted Charmander, please remove yourselves from this game. You are not considered a part of this community,” he said.
If you voted Charmander, please remove yourselves from this game. You are not considered part of this community and therefore, have no right to play in community day.

Other Pokemon trainers chimed in his tweet stating that they would skip the upcoming event.
However, others shared their delight with the results. They noted that the event shall give newcomers the chance to catch the Pokemon.
The upcoming Pokemon GO September community event will star Porygon. The controversial Charmander comes in October.
