‘Pokemon GO’ to launch ‘Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’-themed event

Pokemon GO celebrates the upcoming release of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl via a special event

In anticipation of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s release this month, Pokemon GO will be launching an event, based on the Sinnoh region.

Divided into two parts, the event will take place between two overlapping timeframes in tribute to either Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, respectively.

The first of two events will be center around Brilliant Diamond and starts November 16 until November 21, 2021. Specifically, players will get to encounter a special version of the two games’ starter Pokemon. Namely, Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig, all of which dons a stunning red cap following a notable fashion trend in the Sinnoh region.

In addition, the following Pokemon will also be making more frequent appearances in the wild:

  • Aron
  • Bidoof
  • Buneary
  • Chimchar
  • Kricketot
  • Murkrow
  • Piplup
  • Seel
  • Stunky
  • Turtwig

To overlap with the first-half of the event, the second-half kickstarts beginning November 18 until November 21, 2021. The same starter Pokemon will be highlights of the goings-on, only sporting a different look. In contrast to the previous red hat accessory, Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig will be wearing a white headgear. The very same piece worn by the games’ protagonist, Dawn.

Like the preceding event, certain Pokemon will be making heightened spawns for players to encounter in-game. They are as follows:

  • Bidoof
  • Buneary
  • Chimchar
  • Glameow
  • Houndour
  • Kricketot
  • Misdreavus
  • Pinsir
  • Piplup
  • Spheal
  • Turtwig

Then, of course, there are also Pokemon that can be gotten from eggs.

Other highlights

While the introduction of special versions of Pokemon and making others more accessible are indeed the highlights of the event, it does not end there. Adding to the overall fun is also the Collection Challenge. Anyone who manages to catch all starter Pokemon in all their variants will receive rewards. Particularly, 1000 XP, 3000 Stardust, and a chance encounter with Froslass.

For those into customization, the special occasion’s additional cosmetics should be worthy of looking into as well. They include costumes patterned after the starter Pokemon in addition to clothing inspired after Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s protagonist.

Another item to collect during the limited-time event is stickers. Players can either them directly at the game store, opening gifts, or get them from spinning PokeStops.

Lastly, players who are into the game’s combat would see a peculiar lineup of Pokemon during Raid. A chance to prove that each player is strong enough not to be bested in traditional Pokemon battle.
