The recently-released and highly-anticipated first DLC to Pokemon Sword and Shield, Isle of Armor, has brought with it tons of contents that add to players’ time spent in the game. Part of the expansion is the Diglett-finding quest that grants Pokemon as a reward in return to finding certain numbers.
Players who had played the DLC already would recall a certain DLC from the Alola region in the eponymous landmass itself. Talking to this NPC will subsequently kickstart a quest which will task you to find as many Digletts scattered across the island as possible.
To Pursue or Not to Pursue
Essentially a side-quest, rather than the main story quest, it’s up to the players to pursue it or not. Completionists, however, will want to take on the quest for its added playtime, which will vary significantly depending on interest.
Doing it from scratch will guarantee hours of searching across different locations and whose difficulty may oftentimes be affected by the game’s changing weather.
In addition, pursuing the quest will subsequently better familiarize themselves players with the new map. Considering the breadth and diversity of the island itself, the overall experience is interesting.
A Long Trip Across the Island
All in all, there is a total of 151 Digletts that were burrowed in soil across the Isle of Armor. That’s excluding the one you initially found that play as a catalyst to the side-quest.
Mostly hidden, they can be oftentimes spotted with their hair sticking out from the soil. Most of the time, they can be found singularly. Other times, they come as a bundle.
To know how many Digletts you need to find in order to get which Pokemon as a reward, refer to the breakdown below:
- 5 Diglett: Alolan Meowth
- 10 Diglett: Kanto Slowpoke
- 20 Diglett: Alolan Vulpix
- 30 Diglett: Alolan Sandshrew
- 40 Diglett: Alolan Raichu
- 50 Diglett: Alolan Marowak
- 75 Diglett: Alolan Exeggutor
- 100 Diglett: Popplio
- 150 Diglett: Alolan Diglett
Players who already have these Pokemon at Pokemon Home will probably not find much of a deal for these Pokemon. Unless one is talking of shinies, these are basically commonplace in some previous Pokemon titles.
More Valuable Than They Appear
But one Reddit post claims that the Pokemon rewards in the side-quest are actually special in that they came with hidden abilities. Something which some of the responders of the post corroborated with.
For instance, Alolan Vulpix has Snow Warning hidden ability that kicks into gear hails as soon as it enters combat. Kanto Slowpoke has a Regenerator that lets it restore 1/3 of its overall hit points when switching out for another Pokemon in the roster.
The hidden ability that comes with each Pokemon is hard to get any other way. Essentially making the quest truly rewarding than it seems.
