Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres have been married for over a decade already. Their marriage has been a constant target of celebrity gossips. One outlet claimed that they fought when they were drunk, and de Rossi secretly filmed it.
Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres allegedly had marital issues back in 2014. According to In Touch, the daytime talk show host’s troubled wife just went to rehab at the time for alcohol addiction and recorded their worst blowouts.
“Portia secretly taped some of their arguments. She was drunk,” an insider told the outlet.
“Then she threatened to expose Ellen as controlling and manipulating.”
DeGeneres allegedly flew into a rage when she discovered de Rossi’s scheming. The Ellen DeGeneres Show host also reportedly broke her wife’s phone and even read her emails to ensure that she had not sent the video to anyone.
“Portia going to rehab was the first step in saving their marriage,” the source added.
“They want their marriage to work more than anything.”
However, one should take the report with a grain of salt. According to Ellen DeGeneres, she and Portia de Rossi don’t fight.
“We really don’t almost break up,” DeGeneres told Howard Stern in 2015.
She also debunked the speculations about her fighting with de Rossi.
“We don’t fight. We are madly in love,” she added.
The Finding Dory star also pointed out how compatible they were.
“We think the same things. We are so similar and yet we’re different enough,” she added.
Portia de Rossi is aware of the various rumors plaguing their marriage. Instead of being bothered by it, she revealed that it made her feel accepted.
“The divorce rumors came and then we really knew the perceptions had changed,” de Rossi explained to Us Weekly.
“I’m not kidding. I know it sounds ridiculous, but when that started happening I thought, ‘Oh, now we’re finally accepted.’ We get the same s— as every celebrity couple.”
Meanwhile, Ellen DeGeneres spoke about their plans about kids. She confessed that they already talked about it.
“People are constantly asking Portia and me if we are going to have children, we thought about it,” DeGeneres wrote in her 2011 book Seriously… I’m Kidding.
“We love to be around children after they’ve been fed and bathed. But we ultimately decided that we don’t want children of our own. There is far too much glass in our house.”
