Portia de Rossi has been sober for years. But this could, allegedly, change anytime soon because of her wife, Ellen DeGeneres’, negative media exposure.
According to National Enquirer, the never-ending criticisms DeGeneres is receiving could lead Portia de Rossi on a downward spiral.
On top of the criticisms, the fact that only a few celebrities came to DeGeneres defense is also, allegedly, stressing de Rossi out.
“For Portia, this is a recipe for disaster,” the source said.
Portia de Rossi could suffer a relapse anytime soon?
Dr. Judy Rosenberg, the founder of California’s Psychological Healing Center, also weighed in on the matter. However, it is important to note that Rosenberg didn’t treat de Rossi’s addictions, and she was never involved in her struggles.
“The pandemic and Ellen’s negative media exposure are high-intensity psychological stressors, a bad concoction for Portia’s sobriety. A collapse can be just around the corner,” she said.
De Rossi last checked into rehab for a 30-day treatment program for drugs and alcohol in 2014. And she has been sober ever since.
“Portia has managed to keep it together for six years. But this could push her over the edge,” the source said.
Portia de Rossi seems healthy and happy during a recent outing
However, one should take the claims made by the tabloid with a grain of salt. Portia de Rossi is doing perfectly fine amid all the criticisms DeGeneres has been receiving.
She has stepped out in public twice since her wife was accused of being a mean girl. De Rossi also showed her support for DeGeneres via her social media account weeks ago.
Ellen DeGeneres, Portia’s alleged marital problems
Still, rumors about the couple’s marriage have been rife for years. OK! magazine previously claimed that de Rossi and DeGeneres’ marriage is in crisis because of Ellen Show.
The Ally McBeal alum, allegedly, asked DeGeneres to quit her hosting gig, but she refused. Instead, the comedian decided to renew her contract for another three years.
“Portia hung around because Ellen swore she’d ease up on her workaholic ways. Now, she’ll be doing those 12 or 14-hour days on a regular basis. It’s testing Portia’s limit to the max, and the feeling is she could well walk,” the source said.
The tabloid concocted the dubious claim after de Rossi said that DeGeneres could do so much more other than hosting. However, Portia de Rossi didn’t explicitly ask her wife to quit Ellen Show.
