Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres’ marriage has always been subjected to various rumors with one claiming that the former walked out on the latter.
Portia de Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres have been married for over a decade already. Last year, one outlet claimed that the Scandal star was tired of her wife. So, she allegedly walked out.
Portia de Rossi walking out rumor revisited
Portia de Rossi walked out on Ellen DeGeneres, her wife of 12 years, following the various issues that plagued the latter, InTouch reported. The outlet alleged that Portia could no longer handle the stress.
Ellen’s wife had allegedly already begged her to leave her talk show and focus on their marriage. However, the TV host was all about work.
“Portia can’t believe all the bad press Ellen is getting. Her image as one of the nicest people on the planet has been shattered,” the tabloid quoted an unnamed source as saying.
The couple allegedly got into a huge fight. It ended with Portia getting so frustrated that she walked out on DeGeneres.
Rumor debunked
Gossip Cop examined the report and stressed that they didn’t buy the story when it was first reported. A year later, they have the same stand — the report was not true.
The rumor-debunking site pointed out that the tabloid only took advantage of Portia de Rossi’s silence. Ellen DeGeneres’ wife has been supportive of her but rarely speaks about the issue. Unfortunately, some paper spun some drama out of her silence.
In reality, the couple is still happily married. Just three months ago, Portia congratulated Ellen when she filmed her 3000th episode on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Portia shared a video taken on set when she joined the delivery of cupcakes to mark the show’s milestone. In the clip, Ellen dances as she walks her way toward her wife and gives Portia a hug.
“Congratulations on 3000 episodes, brilliant woman! @theellenshow,” Portia wrote on Instagram.
New update about the couple
Ellen DeGeneres confirmed that she will be leaving the show after season 19 in 2022. The award-winning host said she wants something that constantly challenges her as a creative person. Ellen said the show was great and fun but no longer challenges her, she told THR.
Meanwhile, DJ tWitch, the in-house DJ and co-executive producer said he wasn’t surprised by Ellen’s decision. Three years ago, the host already told them that she signed a three-year contract. After witnessing the difficulties of running a show, the DJ knew that she won’t be renewing her contract again.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi will be celebrating their 13th wedding anniversary on Aug. 16.
