Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have always had Prince Charles’ support.
The British Royal Family members have always maintained their “stiff-upper-lip” rule. This dynamic is seemingly more evident to Queen Elizabeth’s case and some other senior royals, like Prince Charles and Princess Anne.
As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continue to face controversies, the British Royals have remained silent. But, behind closed doors, royal experts believe that they always have the Prince of Wales’ support, according to Cheat Sheet.
Prince Charles does not publicly support the Sussex couple
Speaking to Royal Beat TV, Omid Scobie claimed that Prince Charles’ “sympathy” for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was “often there.” However, he had not taken to voice it out before the public as he was “too afraid.”
The Finding Freedom author explained that the Prince of Wales seemingly does not want to cause a strain in his relationship with the British press. Considering that he is the Heir Apparent, he needs to maintain healthy ties with the public and the press.
The royal author argued, though, that Prince Harry’s father has “quietly supported” the Sussex couple. He stated that the Duke and Duchess’s fight against the Mail on Sunday received silent support from the Duke of Cornwall. But, he did not show this publicly because of his role in the British Monarchy.

Retaining the HRH style
Earlier in August, Omid Scobie alleged that Prince Charles was the “main royal” who pushed for the retaining of the Sussex couple’s HRH status, according to the Daily Express. He encouraged this to happen despite Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to quit the royal life.
The publication then asserted that this likely “prevented” the Duke and Duchess to experience the “same level of hurt” that Princess Diana felt in 1996. As recalled, the late Princess of Wales lost her HRH style and other titles after the divorce became official.
In retaining their HRH status, the Sussex couple may still reportedly return to their royal life. Reports said that the public would learn more about this at the end of Megxit’s review in March.
While these claims have remained unconfirmed, it is not reportedly impossible to conclude that Prince Charles has always supported his son and his daughter-in-law. Some allegations even claim that the Prince of Wales is fond of the Duchess of Sussex. One great example of this is when he walked her down the aisle in 2018.
