Prince Charles was already crowned as the new king of England, according to a report.
Prince Charles has been the heir apparent for decades. However, an outlet claimed that the wait was over because he was already crowned king. Gossip Cop examined the report, and here’s what it found out.
Prince Charles coronation rumor
Woman’s Day published a story claiming that Queen Elizabeth II was having second thoughts keeping her promise to reign until her last breath. The outlet also alleged that the Queen and the Prince of Wales had been quietly planning her abdication and his private coronation.
“Prince Charles is disappointed he won’t get a coronation with all the bells, whistles, and adoration, but he accepts that’s quite impossible,” an insider claimed.
Rumor debunked
Gossip Cop examined the report and debunked it, saying it was “royally wrong” for several reasons. First, Prince Charles is aware that abdication is a very important legal process that can’t be decreed. So, if it was true that Queen Elizabeth II would abdicate, then it would make headlines from much more reliable outlets.
Second, the magazine claimed that the Prince of Wales was already crowned king. However, it didn’t discuss the details of the alleged coronation ceremony. Becoming the new king of England is something that can’t be kept a secret, so the report was just another poor attempt to raise excitement about a potential coronation.
Also, Woman’s Day has a reputation for publishing false reports about Prince Charles. The outlet claimed earlier that he was planning a secret trip to America to bring Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son Archie back to the U.K., which didn’t happen. Also, there was no proof that the Duke of Cornwall wanted to take away the Sussexes’ son.
Prince Harry also said in his interview with Oprah Winfrey in March that there was a time when his dad didn’t pick up his calls. It allegedly happened after he and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped back from their royal duties. The father and son are already on speaking terms.
Other rumors about Prince Charles’ kingship
Again, it wasn’t the first rumor about Prince Charles and the throne. Woman’s Day previously claimed that Queen Elizabeth II doubts her son’s leadership skills.
The Crown Season 4 showed Prince Charles being kicked out of the palace, and it allegedly renewed the cries not to have Prince Charles as the next monarch, according to Woman’s Day. The Queen was reportedly concerned about the public response and started to question Prince Charles’ leadership. She allegedly asked the heir apparent to step down.
Gossip Cop also debunked the report saying the Queen has no power over her successor. Also, the Queen has stood by Prince Charles over the years and through his affair. The rumors that she wanted him to step down from the succession are unlikely true.
