Prince Edward and his family to encounter changes in the line of succession once Princess Eugenie welcomes her baby.
Over the weekend, Prince Andrew’s youngest daughter announced that she is pregnant with her first child, whom she shares with her husband, Jack Brooksbank.
Royal Family “Delighted” with Princess Eugenie’s Pregnancy
Buckingham Palace made the announcement and shared that the Princess of York is about to give birth in 2021.
At the same time, their parents, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II were “delighted” with the coming of another royal baby.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021, the statement reads. “The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr. and Mrs. George Brooksbank, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news.”
Following their royal wedding in 2018, the couple was blessed with their first child and the first grandson of Prince Andrew and ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.
Princess Eugenie and her 34-year-old husband also shared the exciting news on social media.
“Jack and I are so excited for early 2021,” she wrote on her Instagram followed by a series of photos with a pair of fluffy beige boots and the couple’s portrait.
Prince Edward’s Heartbreaking News Amid the Princess Eugenie’s Exciting News
With another addition to the royal family, this means the Wessexes are about to drop in the succession line.
Being the second son of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Andrew has a higher rank than Prince Edward in terms of succession.
Currently, the Duke of York is in the eighth spot, followed by his two daughters.
Furthermore, the Earl of Wessex is in the 11th, while his son Viscount Severn and Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, are in the 12th and 13th rank.
Prince Edward’s family is no stranger when it comes to changes in the line of succession.
To recall, when Kate Middleton, who is the wife of Prince William and the future king of England; and Meghan Markle, who is the wife of Prince Harry and is in the sixth in line to the throne–gave birth to their kids, the line of succession will automatically change.
Now, when the Princess of York welcomes her child, the 56-year-old Prince will move to the 12th line while his kids will drop to 13th and 14th place respectively.
