Prince Harry allegedly signed a 4-book deal with Penguin Random House and one will be released after the Queen dies.
Prince Harry announced last week that he was working on his memoir. He aimed to release the said book to give the public a first-hand account of his life. However, one report claimed that more than one book is in the works.
Prince Harry allegedly had a 4-book deal
Prince Harry allegedly made a lucrative four-book deal with Penguin Random House. His second book is due out after the Queen has died, royal correspondent Rebecca English of Daily Mail reported.
English quoted an “impeccably-placed” source saying that the final contract with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was a four-book deal. Prince Harry is allegedly writing another book that will be released when his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, dies.
His wife, Meghan Markle, is also writing a wellness-type book. However, the tipster wasn’t sure what the fourth book will be. The anonymous source added that it was Prince Harry who suggested that the second book won’t be published not until after the Queen passes away.
“‘People [will] start asking ‘what has he got, who is he going to target?'” the unnamed tipster said. “The very idea of this unexploded bomb, hanging about waiting for the Queen to pass, is just extraordinary and may strike many as being in very bad taste.”
Meghan’s husband alleged attitude on negotiations
English’s insider continued and discussed Prince Harry’s attitude during the negotiations. the royal allegedly had a “take it or leave it” attitude. He allegedly wanted a starting price of $25 million. However, the figure he received was way more than that and was around $35 to $40 million.
The individuals involved in the negotiations were allegedly shocked by his approach. He reportedly looked at them coldly and stated his demands — $25 million.
The insider added that in British, publishing is still a “gentlemanly” industry. It’s high stakes, but still done in very “genteel terms.”
Harry denies news
Prince Harry immediately released a statement after English’s reported was published. The Duke of Sussex denied the four-book deal in the report.
His spokesperson told The Independent in a statement that contrary to “false media reports,” the only memoir in the works is the one he previously announced. The book will be released by Penguin Random House in late 2022.
Thus, royal fans should take the reports against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with a grain of salt. The couple has been subjected to various false reports in the past years.
