Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are, reportedly, starting to establish a name in Hollywood by secretly pitching an “idea for a project” to media companies.
Variety broke the news about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “quietly shopping” a concept for a new project. Although the pitch was under lock and key, they, allegedly, held meetings with huge networks in June.
A new project pitched to different networks
The publication noted the project could be a scripted or unscripted TV series or something else. Whatever the job was, a source told Variety the couple, reportedly, wanted to be its joint producers.
The insider also alleged the Sussexes had pitched their plan to several media companies, one of which was NBCUniversal. A meeting was, allegedly, held with the network’s top executives, like Bonnie Hammer.
The NBCUniversal Content Studios chairman had known Meghan for years since she was a part of the legal drama Suits. Variety noted the network declined to comment about the issue.
A tipster close to the Duchess of Sussex revealed the former actress had no plans to return to acting. Hence, she would not be part of the project they pitched. Prince Harry and Meghan’s reps also refused to address the report.
After she stepped back from her royal duties, Meghan’s first job in Hollywood was narrating a Disney Plus docuseries, Elephants. She did the job in exchange for a donation to the Elephants Without Borders, an organization that protects elephants in Botswana.
The gig came after Meghan talked to the Disney chairman Bob Iger at the London premiere of The Lion King. However, it was yet to be known if Meghan and Prince Harry also pitched their idea for a new project to Disney. Disney’s rep also declined to comment if the studio executives met with the couple.

Prince Harry’s new project with Netflix
Meanwhile, aside from the mystery project, fans would see Prince Harry in the new Netflix documentary Rising Phoenix. The show would be about the Paralympic Games.
“There isn’t anything else in the world that can bring you back from the darkest places than sport,” he said in the trailer, per People.
Prince Harry also teamed up with Oprah Winfrey for a new Apple TV+ series about mental health that would be out next year.
The Duke of Sussex earlier revealed he and Winfrey had a lot of meetings and were “assembling subject matter experts” to guide their show.
“The facts and science exist, and we deserve to know it all,” Prince Harry said.
