Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly flying back to the U.K. and they want a private meeting with the Quee, a report says.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly offered to see Her Majesty. They were allegedly planning to have baby Lili’s christening at Windsor Castle. It would be Markle’s first trip to the U.K. after the 2020 Megxit.
Prince Harry and Meghan allegedly made a shocking request
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be flying back to London. However, the senior staff was surprised by their request to meet the Queen because it happened just months after they allegedly blasted the royal family in their interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The monarchy is also braced for the release of Prince Harry’s memoir next year. Her aides were getting “lawyered up” for any claims against the royal family and monarchy.
“Harry and Meghan have made this offer but a lot of people are shocked by the sheer nerve of it,” one insider told The Sun. “They may genuinely want to see the Queen but it’s breathtaking given what they’ve put her through this year.”
The Queen’s staff have not responded so far to the Sussexes’ request. There has also been discussion about the holidays. The royals are weighing if they should send the Sussexes an invitation after they rejected one last year.
The insider said Queen Elizabeth II is still very fond of Harry and would love to see their children. However, the courtiers were surprised by their move, especially considering what just happened in the past months.
Queen allegedly exasperated with the Sussexes’ attacks
Two weeks ago, the outlet shared that Queen Elizabeth II was already “exasperated” with the attack from the Sussexes. She allegedly ordered her staff to be ready to refute any claims in Harry’s memoir.
The royal family was allegedly concerned about what Prince Harry would write in his book. They feared that he would go into his feelings about Princess Diana’s death, the royal family’s treatment of her, and his feelings about Prince Charles and Camilla’s relationship.
“That’s why it’s all the more surprising that this offer for a meeting has been made now,” the insider added.
When the Duke of Sussex announced his memoir, he said it would be a “firsthand account” of his life. He also added that it would be “accurate and wholly truthful.”
Meanwhile, an unnamed source told Us Weekly that the royal family is “shaken up” about it. Prince Charles and Prince William were allegedly concerned about what Harry would reveal, especially that the recent streak of criticisms against him were “bad enough.”
The Sun reached out to Buckingham Palace, but it declined to comment. The Sussexes’ representatives also did not respond.
