Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly struggling financially, and the duke has to sell his personal belongings to cover their expenses.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to leave the royal family and settle down in the United States. When they announced that they were stepping back, they also said that they wanted to be financially independent. However, several outlets claimed that their finances were in trouble.
Prince Harry allegedly sold rifles for quick cash
Prince Harry has lived a luxurious life growing up as the son of the heir apparent. However, he decided to turn his back from the Firm to live quietly with his wife, Meghan Markle, and son, Archie.
Globe claimed that the duke had to sell his old hunting rifles that cost about $60,000 for quick cash. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly “feeling a financial pinch” following their move to the United States.
The so-called insider added that paying their own security and rent only added to their financial woes. Thus, Prince William’s brother decided to sell his guns.
“Harry sold the rifles for quick cash to help cover expenses, which killed two birds with one stone by making Meghan doubly happy,” the tipster said.
The source continued saying that the royal couple was strapped for cash. Furthermore, they were starting to worry about their future following their royal exit.
“This independence is what Harry wanted so badly… But the truth is, it’s been a real struggle to adjust to the real world,” a source told InTouch.
Royal couple’s luxurious living continues
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have already decided to work for their own needs. Unfortunately, they couldn’t make money from their planned speaking engagements and appearances but still have to pay for their bills.
To make matters worse, the source said they still “spend a ton,” so they will likely “end up broke!”
Financial woes debunked
However, one should take the report with a grain of salt. Even if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have already left the royals, they aren’t strapped for cash.
In fact, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were looking for a new home in Los Angeles. Moreover, they were reportedly eyeing a $15 million house with 10 bedrooms.
Also, Prince Harry and Markle have already started paying Frogmore Cottage, their home in the U.K. The royal couple intends to keep it, and because they are no longer working royals, they have to rent the property.
“It has been quietly arranged for the couple to start paying rent on the property, beginning last month,” a source told Mail on Sunday.
