Prince Harry will not be joining his brother Prince William’s high-profile polo charity this year, according to a report.
Prince Harry and Prince William are allegedly feuding. This year, the Duke of Sussex is skipping the annual King Power Royal Charity Polo Day, Daily Mail reported.
Prince Harry is skipping Prince William’s charity polo
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to California after carrying out their final royal engagement in March. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex just purchased a mansion in Montecito, Santa Barbara. The royal couple is settling in their new home with their son, Archie.
A source told Daily Mail that Prince Harry is not participating at his brother’s charity event this year. The outlet added that the royal brothers had become increasingly detached.
“It’s such a shame that Harry can’t make the polo this year but he won’t come back to Britain unless it’s absolutely necessary,” the source said.
Despite the pandemic, the Duke of Cambridge is reportedly desperate to push the event as planned. The polo charity event is set at the end of September.
Prince William’s brother would have been home
Although Prince Harry is still in the U.S., one should not immediately judge him for not making it to Prince William’s event.
The royal said in a Zoom call on Saturday that he would have been back home in the U.K. if not for the coronavirus pandemic.
“We’ve got a whole rugby league World Cup coming next year,” Harry said, referring to the event set in October 2021.
“I definitely plan on coming back. I would have been back already had it not been for COVID.”
Prince Harry called a spoiled brat in 2014 polo game
Prince Harry has been part of the polo charity event in the past years. However, there was a particular game when things got heated between the royal and another player.
Meghan Markle’s husband joined the charity polo match at Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s house in the U.K. in 2014. However, Prince Harry allegedly lost his cool while on the field during the game.
“He is a spoiled brat,” Australian polo player Beau Skerrett said as quoted by The Sun.
“It got to the point where I couldn’t send anyone off but something had to be said because he was just getting a bit serious. He didn’t take it too well. I think I’m the only guy who ever told him to f— off in front of a crowd that pay 5000 pound to shake his hand.”
He added that Prince William apologized to him. Skerrett said that there were no hard feelings between him and the royal.
