Prince Harry got candid about his life after he and his wife, Meghan Markle, decided to never return to their royal duties.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to step down from their royal duties in 2020. After a year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to stand by their decision and never work for the royals again. Despite their decision, Prince William’s younger brother insisted that he will continue with public service.
Prince Harry will continue with public service
Prince Harry sat down for an interview with James Corden on The Late Late Show. During their interview, the royal prince made it clear that their decision to leave the royals was more about “stepping back rather than stepping down,” he was quoted by The Sun as saying.
Last week, the palace announced their decision that they will never return as working royals anymore. However, Meghan Markle’s husband insisted that his life will always be about public service, and his better-half has also signed up for the same.
“I will never walk away. I will always be contributing,” Prince Harry said. “My life is public service.”
Prince Harry and Meghan react to the Queen’s decision
The Queen decided to strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their honorary military appointments and royal patronages after they decided that they would never return as working royals. The monarch explained that it was not possible for them to continue their responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service.
Prince Harry and Markle seemingly addressed the Queen’s concern by releasing a statement through their representative.
The Sussexes said they remain committed to their duty and service to the U.K. and around the world and will continue to support the organizations they have represented regardless of their official roles.
“We can all live a life of service. Service is universal,” they said.
The Sussexes allegedly upset with the Queen’s decision
Many didn’t like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s statement because they feel that the couple was lecturing the monarch.
Royal correspondent Richard Fitzwilliams told Us Weekly that the couple was unhappy and their statement did not help them Their choice of language that appears to lecture the Queen only showed “how angry they are,” Fitzwilliams said.
Prince William couldn’t believe how his brother reacted to the Queen’s decision. The second in line to the throne was sad and shocked by Prince Harry’s decision to be insulting and disrespectful toward their grandmother, a source told The Times.
