The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is now confirmed. Ubisoft detailed the remake for the 2003 classic, which leaked on the internet this week.
In the recent Ubisoft Forward event, the studio noted that the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will come next year. It will be available both for the PC on the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store. The game will also come to all consoles soon.
The Sands of Time will run on AC’s Anvil engine
2003 classic The Sands of Time was one of the best versions of Prince of Persia. It was a definitive experience for its time, receiving near-perfect scores across the board. Sands of Time was both dazzling and masterful at the time.
The new Prince of Persia will run on AC’s Anvil engine. When that happens, the circle will be complete, with each title bringing forth the other. Two global teams are working on the remake, including Ubisoft Mumbai and Ubisoft Pune.
New Prince of Persia trailer is not visually impressive
The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is a much-awaited game for fans of the franchise. People expect nothing less of perfection for the game, but so far, it’s not there yet. Ubisoft also released a trailer for the upcoming title, and it’s less than stellar.
The visual design of the game is very 2003. The graphics are a bit weird, and the style doesn’t reflect what Ubisoft is capable of. The lighting effects are weird, and the character designs have questionable facial animation on them.
The new remake seems like it needs a remake so far. On a more positive note, Yuri Lowenthal will reprise his role as “The Prince.” Actress Supinder Wraich, instead of Joanna Wasick, will play as Farah.
Ubisoft had both leads act together for better chemistry. They note that they will also use mocap technology to enhance the cinematic parts of the game.
Players can still mess with time in the remake, which is the title’s prime gameplay loop. Combat, freerunning, and movement will also use free camera controls. Players can set the camera to the prime position they want for maximum effect.
With a little more touch-up, the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake should be a great game. The game will come out on January 21 next year and would retail for $40. It will be worth every dollar, as long as Ubisoft can correct the trailer’s imperfections so far.
