Prince William has, allegedly, snatched the throne from his father, Prince Charles.
Prince William is second in line to the throne. However, one tabloid claims that the Duke of Cambridge will reign after Queen Elizabeth II and skip the heir apparent, his father, Prince Charles. Prince William taking over the throne reportedly comes with the Queen’s blessing.
Prince William snatched the throne
National Enquirer published a report last year claiming that Prince William seized the throne from his father, Prince Charles. So, he would be taking over the throne after the current monarch.
Also, the Duke of Cambridge allegedly treated Prince Charles, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry threats to the crowns, so he stripped them of their titles.
“Charles, who is also accused of murdering William’s mother, Diana, is likely to be exiled along with Harry, his wife, and their newborn son, Archie,” a supposed insider claimed.
Duke of Cambridge reigning before dad debunked
Gossip Cop debunked the report citing several reasons. First, it didn’t explain why the Queen chooses her grandson over her son.
Second, changing the line of succession is something that the monarch couldn’t just do on her own. In fact, she has no power to change it.
Royals experts have already spoken about the matter. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said that it is unlikely to happen because the Queen could not choose her heir.
Even if the people will prefer the Duke of Cambridge over the Prince of Wales, the line of succession will remain the same. The future of the next monarch doesn’t depend on one’s popularity.
“We have a hereditary monarchy so the line of succession is fixed and does not skip a generation. It obviously is not influenced by opinion polls,” Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk.
Also, the story about Prince William taking over the throne from his father is not new. In fact, in 2017, there were also claims that Queen Elizabeth II would be passing the reign to Prince Charles and Kate Middleton skipping Prince Charles.
Two years have passed since the report and Queen Elizabeth II still reigns. Apparently, the monarch is not stepping down and has no plans to skip Prince Charles and pass the throne to the Duke of Cambridge.
Prince William clears the issue
Prince William has no interest in taking over the throne prior to his appointed time.
According to Gill Knappet, author of “Charles, Prince of Wales,” Kate Middleton’s husband has no intention to “take the throne early.”
“Although like his father, William will be destined to have a far shorter reign than his grandmother, he has said he has no desire to ‘climb the ladder of kingship’ before his time,” Knappet said about Prince William.
