Prince William, Kate Middleton will 'supersede' Prince Charles in line of succession: Rumor

Prince William and Kate Middleton are bypassing Prince Charles in the line of succession, according to a report.

Prince William is set to be the next king after Prince Charles. However, one outlet claimed that the Duke of Cambridge would “supersede” his dad, the Prince of Wales, on the throne.

Prince William will reign after Queen Elizabeth

Us Weekly published a report suggesting that there was a monumental change in the British family’s line of succession. An insider claims that the Queen “deserves a break,” but Prince Charles is not taking over.

“William and Kate will supersede Charles to take the throne when the queen abdicates,” the source said.

The insider adds that Prince Charles has no issues with his son being the next king because they share the same vision. So, the Queen gives more responsibilities to Prince William and Middleton instead of Prince Charles.

The report went on and shaded Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The bogus source said the Queen didn’t know how to survive the Sussexes’ shenanigans without the Cambridges.

Rumor debunked

Gossip Cop debunked the claim calling it “completely false.”

First, skipping the heir apparent is unprecedented in the history of the British monarchy.

Second, if there were major changes in the line of succession, it wouldn’t stem from tabloids.

Also, there is no rivalry between Queen Elizabeth II and Meghan Markle. However, the tabloid puts it as if there is an issue between Prince Harry’s grandmother and wife.

Besides, the report about Prince William snatching the throne from Prince Charles is not a new rumor at all. National Enquirer also published the same report last year.

What the royal expert and Prince William said about the issue

However, one should take those reports with a grain of salt because changing the line of succession doesn’t depend on the Queen. Even if Her Majesty prefers Prince William over Prince Charles, she has no power to decide who her heir will be.

“We have a hereditary monarchy so the line of succession is fixed and does not skip a generation. It obviously is not influenced by opinion polls,” royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk.

Also, Prince William has no plans to take over the throne ahead of his appointed time. Kate Middleton’s husband told Gill Knappet, author of Charles, Prince of Wales, that he had no intention to take the throne early.

“Although like his father, William will be destined to have a far shorter reign than his grandmother, he has said he has no desire to ‘climb the ladder of kingship’ before his time,” Knappet said.
