Prince William, allegedly, wants Princess Diana’s Spencer tiara to be passed on to Princess Charlotte and not other members of the royal family.
According to New Idea, Prince William reached out to his uncle, Charles, 9th Earl Spencer to ask if he could have his late mother’s tiara.
Prince William reached out to his uncle
The Spencer tiara is currently under Charles’ care. But Prince William is confident that his uncle would give it to him because he knows that Princess Charlotte is its rightful owner.
“William is quite aware the earl has daughters of his own, but the two have agreed that Diana’s iconic piece belongs to her first daughter,” the source said.
Princess Charlotte excited to wear the Spencer tiara
The insider also claimed that Princess Charlotte knows all about the Spencer tiara. And she’s also excited to wear it someday.
“Charlotte is more than aware that she’s a princess and she’s already got plastic tiaras and gowns to play dress-ups in. It’s very cute,” the source said.
Meghan Markle wants Princess Diana’s tiara
But if there’s one person who’s not happy to know that the Spencer tiara will go to Princess Charlotte, it’s Meghan Markle.
A second source claimed that Prince Harry’s wife was hoping the tiara will be given to her or her daughter, Lilibet Diana.
“Meghan figured it was only fair to have first dibs on the tiara, given Diana originally gifted Prince Harry her sapphire engagement ring. He then gave it to William to propose to Kate. Now, she’s been thwarted by William,” the source said.
The tabloid noted that Markle already has jewelry that previously belonged to Princess Diana. So, she shouldn’t demand anything more.
The Duchess of Sussex has Princess Diana’s Cartier watch, her aquamarine ring, a pair of butterfly earrings, and a stunning gold bangle.
Rumors debunked
However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt.
Prince William has not asked his uncle for the Spencer tiara. After all, it’s still too early to decide on these things because Princess Charlotte is just 6 years old.
It’s not also true that Markle was hoping to get first dibs on the tiara. After all, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s daughter has more right over the Spencer tiara than Markle.
