Princess Beatrice pushed through with her wedding to Edoardo “Edo” Mapelli Mozzi in a secret ceremony at Windsor Castle on July 17, making her the first young, modern British royal of her generation to become a stepmom.
The 31-year-old royal’s new husband has a two-year-old son, Christopher Woolf—nicknamed “Wolfie”—with his former partner of three years, Dara Huang. The ex-couple broke up in 2018 before Edo started dating Princess Beatrice. They agreed to co-parent their son amicably.
The princess accepted being a stepmother immediately
According to Daily Mail, Princess Beatrice welcomed Wolfie, as well as Dara, with open arms shortly after dating Edo. She enjoys being a stepmother to Wolfie and have gone on some vacations together as a small family unit.
A friend told People that Princess Beatrice has made it a point to involve Wolfie in her life “from the outset.” Had the couple’s wedding pushed through last May 29, Wolfie would have a special role in the wedding entourage because that’s how much Princess Beatrice values the child.
Unfortunately, Princess Beatrice and Edo needed to scrap their original wedding plans amid the coronavirus restrictions. Instead, they had a quiet wedding ceremony with only 20 guests, including Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.

On the other hand, there’s also no animosity between Princess Beatrice and Wolfie’s mother. Dara, who has found her new love as well, even sent her best wishes to Princess Beatrice and Edo when they announced their engagement in September 2019.
The royal lives with Wolfie
Reports stated that Wolfie is growing up in two households. On some days, he stays with his dad and Princess Beatrice in Cotswold, and on other days, the boy is with his mother, who has a home in West London.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Edo said that he takes his son to school on some mornings and gets to tuck him to bed on many evenings. This implies that he’s still pretty much a constant part of Wolfie’s life despite ending his relationship Dara.
Just like Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall
The one other stepmother in the modern British royal family is Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, who became Prince Charles’s second wife in 2005. In the book Harry: Conversations with the Prince, the Duke of Sussex said that Camilla hardly fits the stereotype of the “wicked stepmother” even though the public did not immediately warm up to her.
Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice’s cousin, has nothing but praises for his stepmom. He said that he and Prince William were always close to Camilla, and they’ve accepted her because she makes their father very happy.
