Princess Diana, allegedly, made a big sacrifice for Queen Elizabeth II when she was alive.
According to royal experts, Princess Diana was not close to the Queen. However, according to a biographer, she had always considered the monarch, especially when it comes to her marriage.
Princess Diana sacrifice for Queen Elizabeth
It’s not a secret that the Prince and Princess of Wales had an unhappy marriage. Their married life was very different from their fairytale royal wedding.
According to royal biographer Andrew Morton, Princess Diana decided to stick with Prince Charles because she didn’t want to disappoint Queen Elizabeth II.
Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom considered the monarchy a crumbling institution. However, she had deep respect when it comes to the monarch and how she conducts herself. Thus, she refused to leave Prince Charles and stayed with their marriage.
“Indeed, much as she would like to leave her husband, Diana has emphasized to her: ‘I will never let you down,’” Morton wrote in his book Diana: Her True Story.
No divorce for the Princess of Wales
Princess Diana’s friend and trainer Jenni Revitt revealed the same story. According to her, the People’s Princess didn’t want to divorce her husband.
Rivett explained that she wanted to be the queen of people’s hearts. She also wanted to keep her marriage.
She wanted to be a good mom for Prince William and Prince Harry, and a good wife, for Prince Charles.
Royal sought Queen Elizabeth II’s help
In Morton’s book, Princess Diana revealed that she asked the Queen for marriage advice. However, their meeting was not fruitful, and it only left her disappointed.
“So I went to the top lady [Queen Elizabeth II], sobbing And I said ‘What do I do? I am coming to you, what do I do?’ And she said, ‘I don’t know what you should do.’ And that was it. And that was help,” Princess diana said
Queen Elizabeth II ordered the divorce
No matter how much Princess Diana wanted to stay in her marriage, it wasn’t her call to decide whether she keeps it or not. The monarch reportedly wrote her a letter advising her to divorce the heir apparent.
Her Majesty ordered the divorce because she said something that ruined everything.
The Prince and Princess of Wales announced their split in 1992. Three years later, the princess made her infamous Panorama interview.
During the interview, Princess Diana said that her marriage with Prince Charles didn’t work because “there were three of us in this marriage.”
She was implying about Prine Charles’ affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.
The public revelation did not sit well with the Queen, so she wrote a letter and advised Princess Diana to divorce the future king.
