Observer: System Redux has put the PS5’s next-gen graphics on display as rumors surface that the console would come with a robot companion.
The PS5 and the Xbox Series X are said to be the future of gaming and both are slated for launch later this year. However, details regarding the next-generation consoles are scarce as both of their companies, Sony and Microsoft, remain tight-lipped.
As of this story’s publishing, no one outside’s Sony’s inner circle knows what the PS5 will look like but thankfully, a new trailer for the upcoming remaster of Observer: System Redux has given an insight as to how games would look like on next-generation hardware.
Visually-enhanced
The original Observer was released back in 2017 and was a Cyberpunk-esque psychological thriller game that already had impressive graphics at the time it was released. In the new trailer for the remastered version of the game, the statements “next-gen graphics” and “enhanced gameplay” were mentioned and since the game would be released for the PS5, it doesn’t take a genius to connect the two.
In the trailer, one would easily be able to see just how much the visuals had improved. Lighting effects were enhanced, the gameplay looks more fluid, and the game looks more colorful than it had been in the original.
The game’s protagonist, Detective Lazarki, now even looks more realistic than before, showcasing fine details in the character’s face. The term “next-gen graphics” could also mean that the Xbox Series X would display similar levels of graphics when it is released.
A New Robot Companion
When the PS5 is released, it may come with a robot companion instead of a speculated virtual assistant. The news comes after a patent for the robot was discovered and filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office.
It is still too early to think about how the people would feel to have a somewhat bizarre robot companion. According to the patent, the robot would appear similar to a cloud with cartoon-like eyes, arms, and legs. It is said that Sony wants the robot to serve as a companion to PS5 users and join them watching films or even play. The robot will even react to what is happening on the player’s screen as long as it is attached to the PS5.
“A user places a robot nearby and views contents together, while the robot communicates with the user by outputting a reaction to empathize with the user or outputting a reaction against the user conversely, on the basis of deduced user’s feelings,” the patent reads.
PS5 Release Date
There is no concrete news as of yet regarding the release of the PS5 but if things proceed as planned for Sony, the next-gen console could be released before the year ends. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting development and production as well as having a large impact on the global economy, it is said that Sony is still having trouble deciding on where to go with the console.
