Restocks of PS5 and Xbox Series S in GameStop sold out in less than 45 minutes.
A shortage in supply of PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X/S is apparent these past few months. Since the next-gen consoles’ release late last year, only a few individuals have been able to get a unit from retailers and stores.
The Tech Times said that there are several reasons as to why there is a “monstrous shortage” of inventory today. One of the most evident is that the demand continues to increase due to the pandemic.
This dynamic has already been established since the official release of the consoles. Gamers would usually wait, though, for alerts on social media to watch out for the restocking dates of various stores.
These days, however, the publication pointed out that there is a “new trend” in this aspect. As pointed out, alerts are now also coming from the retailers themselves.
PS5 and Xbox Series X/S restock alerts
On Tuesday, several “dedicated trackers” of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S restocks revealed that a new batch of inventory would be available in GameStop. It was not surprising that these accounts and pages announced the restock availability.
What was shocking was reportedly when GameStop themselves posted the restock “alert,” as well, on social media. As it happened, they took it upon themselves to share the restock update. In less than 45 minutes, the stock sold out.

The publication seemingly noted it as a “new trend,”, especially for retailers. In the past, stores and official sellers did not share such announcements before the public.
But, as the demand remains in an increasing trend, it appears that more retailers will do the same in the next few weeks. Hence, the public may reportedly expect to receive direct updates and news from the dedicated stores and retailers.
Get updates and news from “Twitter trackers”
If all retailers and stores follow GameStop’s recent movements in terms of releasing restock announcements, then it will be great for all parties. But, if not, gamers and interested buyers may still obtain reliable updates from dedicated “trackers” of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S restocks.
Tech Radar, for instance, has their own “restock Twitter tracker.” On the platform, the account drops all information regarding the next and upcoming batches of consoles.
The publication, later on, said that it is the “fastest way to get real-time updates” and details about the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S restocking events.
