Psychonauts 2 will have an invincibility toggle on their game, citing that they want accessibility in their title, noting they want everyone to enjoy their sequel.
So far, Psychonauts 2 is coming on August 25, and Double Fine is making sure everyone can play. Now, they announced that they’re adding an invincibility toggle. They detail that however players try to finish P2, “you still beat P2.”
Double Fine reassures players they can beat the game
Double Fine confirmed that they are working on P2 for quite a while now. They even note that the game is coming into the world “crunch-free”. The sequel, however, will have an invincibility toggle to prevent players from dying.

The toggle itself is there for those who only want to experience the game without difficulty. By itself, it’s a necessary accessibility option for beginners or casual gamers. It can also be helpful for kids and those with disabilities.
With that said, Double Fine reminds everyone that finishing P2 whichever way you enjoy counts. Outside of actual cheating, playing the game easier or harder doesn’t matter if players enjoy.
“If you beat Psychonauts 2 with the invincibility toggle on, you still beat P2,” said Double Fine on their Twitter. “‘Uh, excuse me I beat Sword Guy Serious Time on a no hit hard mode and if didn’t do that I don’t respect you. and like, can you even comment on things if you’re not diamond six rank in shooty mcBlam? I don’t think so’. Cool bud. You’re soooo cool!”
Psychonauts was a cult classic
Psychonauts 2 is a thing of beauty. The franchise is one of the most beloved titles in its time, coming out as a cult classic. Now, the sequel should hit nicely for those who have nostalgia for the game.
Double Fine, however, is looking to get more people into the experience. They feel like an invincibility toggle should work wonders.
“All people should be able to enjoy games,” said Double Fine. “All ages, all possible needs. It’s an ongoing and important process for our industry and a challenge we need to met.
“End of the day? We want you to have fun, to laugh, to experience a story that affects you. On whatever terms you want.”
Difficulty level in games is a conversation since time immemorial. Many call to extreme difficulty as gatekeeping, including titles like Dark Souls. Even then, some players relish in the challenge of a difficult game.
Regardless, Psychonauts 2 should be a great experience for all once it comes out in August.
