Indian players can now rejoice, finally! PUBG is coming back in the South-Asian country soon, as Battlegrounds Mobile India.
PUBG Mobile developer Krafton just announced that it would release the game with a new name, Battlegrounds Mobile India.
The government of India banned the viral battle royale title last year due to border tensions with China.
‘Battlegrounds Mobile India’ early details
To everyone’s surprise, the reveal came on Thursday via the official Battlegrounds Mobile India YouTube channel.
A ten-second teaser showed a change in the name with three colors of the Indian flag.
And as expected, all die-hard players of the country began cheering on social media platforms.
Many of them expressed great joy and satisfaction after knowing that their favorite battle royale game is coming back.
A release date is yet to arrive in the future.
Reports suggest that PUBG Mobile was the most popular smartphone title in the country before it got banned. It had nearly 200 million downloads.
Also, it had 50 million active users upon the time of its eventual ban.
Although South Korean studio Krafton is behind the game, Tencent, a Chinese company, handles the mobile version.
However, to enter the Indian region, Krafton ended its ties with Tencent. In simple words, Battlegrounds Mobile India will have no connection with the China company.
It will be interesting to see how the relaunch of the immensely celebrated game is received once it comes out.
Well, it’s likely to surpass all the previous records, no doubt, considering the love among Indian mobile players.
