As the year finally comes to an end, Qualcomm is gearing up for the next generation of its flagship 8-series processor smartphone.
Rumors say that Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 could be made known at the Qualcomm Tech Summit on December 1, 2020. Qualcomm has officially confirmed the event that will conclude on December 2, 2020.
However, manufacturers would have to wait a little bit longer to confirm the launch of the flagship series Qualcomm Snapdragon 875.
The news comes in at a point where Apple has already announced its competitor, the A14 Bionic chipset. Popular tipsters like Roland Quandt and Ice Universe took it to Twitter to predict the smartphone’s launch.
Qualcomm Tech Summit 2020
Qualcomm has already sent out the invites for its flagship event of the year. The summit usually occurs in Hawaii, but it seems like this year would be a little different because of the global pandemic caused by COVID-19.
The brand has decided to follow in the industry trend and host the event virtually so that one could enjoy it from the comfort of their homes. According to a report by My Smart Price, the email invite reads “premium-tier mobile performance.”
The matter led for some users and critics to conclude that the invites hints at the next-generation line of processors: the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875.
Specifications
The new smartphone is eyed as the best processor from the brand. Since the technology company is an industry leader, it would be safe to assume that most of the Android flagship devices next year would ship with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875.
According to a Techno Sports report, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 will come with a “1+3+4” triple cluster architecture. The “1+3+4” configuration suggests that the device hails one super core, three large cores, and four energy-efficient cores.
Qualcomm might become the first company to use ARM Cortex-X1 Super Core, which would result in a 30% increase in performance.
Additionally, rumors find that the brand uses 5nm chips from Samsung for the Snapdragon 875. But even so, there have been rumors that Snapdragon 875 would not be able to beat the Exynos 1000 in terms of speed.
Since the expected release of the Snapdragon 875 is around February 2021, it would be safe to assume that the Samsung S21 series would also come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 875.
Hence, Samsung became the first smartphone to pack in Snapdragon 875 in their next year’s flagship.
However, all the rumors must be taken with a pinch of salt since there has been little to no information given by the officials concerned.
