Queen Elizabeth II seemingly showed what the royal watchers can expect about the monarchy soon.
Queen Elizabeth II recently shared a photo to mark the annual Chelsea Flower Show amid the pandemic.
But aside from celebrating the event, Queen Elizabeth II also gave what the future would look like with a different monarch.
Her Majesty needed to skip the Chelsea Flower Show this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Throughout her decades of reign, she usually attends the event to check on the new flowers for the event.
This year, she celebrated it differently while hinting at the safe monarchy even with a different monarch.
Royal Family’s future without Queen
Queen Elizabeth II shared four different photos from the event on the Royal Family’s Twitter account. The post featured snaps of King George V and Queen Mary on the annual show in 1930.
A solo picture of the Queen in 1971 was also uploaded, followed by a photo of the monarch with Prince Charles and a 2019 photo of Prince William and Kate Middleton. By showing the century-old of service of the royal family, Her Majesty assured the royal fans of a safe future with the next monarch.
But there is one problem after Queen Elizabeth II abdicates.
Will Royal family survive?
In the past years, the royal family has been involved in different scandals that pulled down the monarchy. Prince Andrew, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle have been in the spotlight in the past years, causing some people to suggest the abolishment of the royal family.
According to JOE.co.uk’s political correspondent, Nadine Batchelor-Hunt, royals are “becoming increasingly out of place in contemporary society” due to the scandals. This caused her to call for the abolishment of the monarchy.
Meanwhile, Marlene Koenig explained that the process of removing it would not be easy at all compared to what happened to Greece and Bulgaria.
“It would take legislation, an act of Parliament, and signed by the Sovereign to end the monarchy,” she said. “There are no protests. The republican movement is small. The political system is stable.”
Meanwhile, the director of public opinion consultancy, Deltapoll, recently commented on whether the royal family could survive after Queen Elizabeth II’s reign.
According to Joe Twyman, the amount of support the monarchy gets reflected in what the Queen receives.
“To people from a certain generation, the idea of bowing to your grandmother every time you see her just because she’s the Queen seems insane,” he went on.
