Queen Elizabeth II, reportedly, stayed in a hospital after receiving advice to rest for a few days.
The supposed visit of Queen Elizabeth Ii in Northern Ireland has been canceled, and she stayed in a hospital for a night following her doctor’s advice.
Buckingham Palace released a statement on Thursday confirming that the Queen spent a night in a hospital on Wednesday. She then got immediately discharged on Thursday.
“Following medical advice to rest for a few days, The Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations, returning to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today, and remains in good spirits,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, CBS News correspondent Holly Williams detailed that the decision to stay in the hospital for a night was due to the fact that it was already late at night for her to be driven home.
Before the cancelation amid health issues, Queen Elizabeth II still managed to attend the event for global business leaders at Windsor Castle on Tuesday. Still, she expressed her disappointment over the canceled engagement.
However, some experts claimed that there was a deeper reason why the Queen did not push her plans through.
Is Queen having security issues in Northern Ireland?
According to royal sources, details about Her Majesty’s visit had been publicized and spread in Belfast. This put her at risk, especially since the public knew where she would be throughout her stay.
This resonated with what a royal expert said, saying that the cancelation was due to security risks rather than a medical reason.
“Even before the trip, royal sources were citing the Northern Ireland security protocols and refusing to confirm the details. But at the same time, her itinerary was known by everyone in Ireland,” the expert said.
Chris Phillips, the former head of the National Counter Terrorism Security Office Chris Phillips shared the same sentiments. He explained that sharing her itineraries in public put her at risk. Indeed, people of Northern Ireland found out about it as the Irish Times and the Belfast Telegraph both released details about it.
However, her former press secretary offered a different reason.
In a new interview on Good Morning Britain, Dickie Arbiter assured that the Queen would not step down regardless of her health status. However, she reportedly wants other officials to cover for her moving forward.
In the past weeks, the Queen sparked concerns as she used a cane again for the first time since 2003.
