Queen Elizabeth II is set to mark her Platinum Jubilee this year, but a royal commentator believes she would be less visible in the next months.
This year, Queen Elizabeth II will mark a new milestone in her life as a monarch as she is set to become the next British monarch to have ruled over the monarchy for 70 years.
Aside from remembering her reign in February, another set of celebrations will also happen during the long bank holiday weekend from June 2 to 5. The royal family will also be busy with the Trooping the Colour parade, a thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral, and a concert at Buckingham Palace.
But unlike the Queen’s past jubilees, she may not attend these events due to her age and health issues.
According to the managing editor of Majesty Magazine, Joe Little, Queen Elizabeth II will be less visible in the forthcoming celebration.
“So Charles and Camilla, and William and Kate, are likely to be bobbing around the country and Commonwealth – Covid restrictions permitting – on her behalf,” he told The Guardian.
Queen may get tired
Another royal commentator, Hugo Vickers, said that the jubilee might bring fun to Her Majesty. But it would only be tiring on elderly royals, including the Queen.
“I remember Princess Anne saying at the time of Diamond Jubilee that the family had to rally to make sure the Queen and Prince Philip did not get overtired. So I think she is going to do about 10 notable things that will be high profile,” he continued.
The event will be the first celebration without Prince Philip by her side following his death in April 2020.
Despite her recent absences, Queen Elizabeth II proved she was still well enough to attend several events last year. She was also able to deliver her annual Christmas broadcast that gave hope to royal fans.
In the past months, she faced several issues that led people to assume she might abdicate soon. It all started in October when she canceled a trip to Northern Ireland after her medical team asked her to rest for a few more days.
She also stayed at a hospital overnight, where preliminary tests were done. She also missed the National Service of Remembrance after suffering from a back injury.
Amid the health issues, Queen Elizabeth II has been assuring that she can still do her tasks as the current head of state.
