Queen Elizabeth II refuses to take showers like other royal family members

Share

Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family members follow strict rules as royals. Aside from that, they also have practices that are far from what ordinary people do.

When it comes to taking showers, Queen Elizabeth II and her family opted to take a bath instead.

The purpose behind this strict rule left royal watchers surprised and amazed at the same time.

Why the Royal Family does not take showers

Every morning, Queen Elizabeth II allows her staff to prepare the bath for her.

Per Daily Mail‘s royal correspondent Brian Hoey, her maid always needs to check that the water is not too hot or too cold for her. In addition, they also make sure that the bathtub has the right and exact amount of water.

To test the water temperature, Hoey revealed that the staff uses a wooden-cased thermometer. This became a routine inside the palace since it is essential to avoid accidents that could hurt Her Majesty.

Furthermore, Princess Margaret already suffered from a bathtub accident in the past. Because of this, extra cautionary measures are being implemented for Queen Elizabeth II.

Aside from her bath, even her wardrobe is carefully handpicked every day. The Queen ensures that her looks will catch everyone’s attention.

What happened to Queen Elizabeth II’s sister?

In 1999, Princess Margaret suffered from a burn after her feet got soaked in hot water. The accident ultimately resulted in the loss of mobility of the countess’ feet.

After it happened, she used a wheelchair to get around the palace.

Despite that, she also established her own routine in taking baths like Queen Elizabeth II.

According to W Magazine, royal author Craig Brown noted in his book that Princess Margaret created a detailed morning call for herself.

The book titled Ma’am Darling: 99 Glimpses of Princess Margaret revealed that the countess always wakes up at 9:00 a.m. From there, she would have her breakfast in bed.

She would listen to the radio for two hours straight before reading newspapers.

“At 11 a.m. Margaret would have her bath drawn. She always took a bath because she and other royals believe showers are for people who are rushing out the door to get to work,” he explained.

This explains why the princess soaks herself in the tub for at least an hour.

Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family members truly have bizarre routines. However, though they sound weird to some, they make the royal family unique.
