Queen Elizabeth II has promised to serve until her last breath, and she is still strong and fit to carry out her duties. However, an outlet claimed a year ago that she was already on her death bed and wanted the Duke of Cambridge to rule instead of the heir apparent, the Princess of Wales. Gossip Cop examined the report and found that the claim was not true.
National Enquirer published a report claiming that Queen Elizabeth II was “near death” last year. It also alleged that Prince Charles and Prince William were fighting over who would be the king after Her Majesty.
The outlet quoted an unnamed “high-place courtier” claiming the Prince of Wales was aware his mother would bypass him because she allegedly prefers Prince William to take over the throne after her. Prince Charles won’t back down and was “fighting tooth and nail,” the insider added.
Kate Middleton’s husband was allegedly determined to succeed the queen after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s exit. The Duke of Cambridge has no intention of stepping down and was throwing the “palace into chaos and crisis,” the tabloid reported.
Gossip Cop debunked the report a year ago and pointed out that the rules of succession are outlined by parliament. Prince Charles and Prince William have no say about the heirs; even Queen Elizabeth II couldn’t choose her heir.
The rule clearly states that Prince Charles will be the next king after Queen Elizabeth II. The Prince of Wales and Duke of Cambridge are well aware of that and need not fight against each other for the monarchy.
The outlet also noted that the Queen was not dying as Enquirer previously reported. The report claimed Queen Elizabeth II only had months to live, but she is still alive and well, which only proved that its sources were not credible.
The rumor-debunking site added that Enquirer has been running trashy reports about Prince William. In June, the tabloid claimed he was going blind. It also invented another story about a vague cancer scare to capitalize on his COVID-19 diagnosis.
One thing is clear — there is no feud among the royal family. Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, and Prince William are doing fine.
