Prince Edward received a warm greeting from Queen Elizabeth on his birthday.
The British Royal Family currently faces a lot of challenges. Following all of the crises, the senior royals, especially Queen Elizabeth, appear to have been plagued with hurdles.
But, despite the trying times, the royal Firm does not seemingly forget to pay tribute to the royals celebrating their birthdays. On Wednesday, Prince Edward turned 57 years old and received a “warm tribute” from the British Monarch, according to the Daily Express.
Queen Elizabeth honored Prince Edward’s birthday
The publication said that the Earl of Wessex marked his special day at Bagshot Park. This is where he and his family have remained in isolation amid the pandemic. It remains unclear how they celebrated his name day. But, Queen Elizabeth shared her warm greetings to her son on social media.
On Instagram, the British Monarch posted a photo of her youngest son. It was reportedly taken on his visit to Vauxhall City Farm last October.
The image came with a caption, wishing him to have a “very happy” birthday. It also came with a set of emojis in the form of a cake and balloon. Moreover, the post included a reference to the account’s bio, which links to the royal-born Prince’s biography.

Overshadowed by the Sussex-Oprah crisis
Many netizens shared their greetings, as well, on the same platform. However, a royal commentator had other opinions about the special day. Richard Fitzwilliams claimed that Prince Edward’s birthday might have been “overshadowed” by the family’s “greatest crisis since the disasters of the 1990’s.”
He explained that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry sent shockwaves toward the British Royal Family following their interview with Oprah Winfrey. Nevertheless, the royal expert noted that Queen Elizabeth “could totally rely” on the Wessex couple amid these trying and challenging times.
Fitzwilliams continued that the Earl and Countess have stepped up, especially last year during the lockdown. They have “singly and jointly” supported various organizations amid all the crises.
The Queen’s response to the Sussexes
The British Monarch’s warm greetings toward her youngest son come a day after she made an official statement regarding the Sussexes. Through Buckingham Palace, she addressed the Sussex couple’s statements on the tell-all interview.
Queen Elizabeth said that they would address all of it “privately,” noting how concerning the issues are. The statement, then, ended by emphasizing that the Sussexes, including Archie Harrison, will “always be much loved family members.”
