When is the series’ premiere date?
Until today, it is still unknown when Queen of the South season 5 will drop on USA Network.
It was expected to come out around this month just like seasons 1 to 4. But due to the coronavirus pandemic, the world turned upside down.
Productions for TV shows were put to halt and shut down, forcing some series to take alternative measures. The health crisis also caused uncertainty in the future of the series.
In a recent Twitter post, co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez responded to a fan’s questions saying, “Season five was interrupted due to Covid19. We have no idea when we will resume shooting or when we will premiere.”
Moreover, Rodriguez also revealed that season 5 will have fewer episodes. The show has always been ordered to have 13 episodes. But this time around, season 5 will be 3 episodes short.
“Dear #queenfamilia we are so sorry to tell you that we only got a 10 episode order for season five,” Rodriguez wrote on Twitter.
What to expect in season 5?
Plot details on the fifth season of the series are very scarce. But since season 4 ended with a major cliffhanger, it’s expected to address the loose ends.
It’s hard to tell right now what will come next since the show is tight-lipped about it. It’s been noted though that some characters will come with a bigger role than before.
It’s also been hinted that James Valdez (Peter Gadiot) will be given a lot of focus. He is returning to season 5 and as co-showrunner Ben Lobato said, they are setting him up for something in the next run.
As for the cast, the main character Teresa is of course expected to be in season 5. And aside from Gadiot, it’s said that Pote Galvez (Hemky Madera) and Alonzo Loya (Nick Sagar) will be back.
Stay tuned for updates on Queen of the South season 5.
