‘Rachet and Clank: Rift Apart’ a PS5 exclusive emphasizes developers

Rachet and Clank: Rift Apart will be one of the early titles to launch on the PlayStation 5, and fans of the series are excited. Those playing on other platforms will be disappointed after what Insomniac Games has revealed about the game.

Sony plans on supporting the PlayStation 4 for years to come. This means having their first-party developers create games which are both compatible with the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. However, for Rachet and Clank: Rift Apartfans will have to buy the next gen of the PlayStation first as the game has some exclusivity.

Only a PlayStation 5 exclusive

As per Insomniac Games, the upcoming next entry in the Rachet and Clank series is going to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive. While this may not come as a surprise to some, there are those that had expected otherwise. Some of Sony’s first-party games for the PlayStation 5 will be releasing on the PlayStation 4.

Games like the upcoming Horizon Forbidden West, for instance, will be launched on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. A more appropriate example would be Insomniac Game’s upcoming Spider-Man Miles Morales, which will launch alongside the PlayStation 5. The game will be compatible with the PlayStation 4 as well.

Insomniac Games didn’t detail why Rachet and Clank: Rift Apart will launch on the PlayStation 5 only.

Some players are speculating that the game is too demanding to be on the PlayStation 4. We’ve already seen a ton of gameplay footage, and it’s safe to say that Insomniac Games is maximizing all of the resources available on the PlayStation 5. However, it’s not just the visuals and performance that could be the reason for the exclusivity.

A core feature of the upcoming title is Rachet’s ability to instantaneously jump from world to world. This is a huge part of the gameplay, which could be impossible to emulate on the PlayStation 4 without taking making huge compromises.

The Rachet and Clank series has always been a PlayStation exclusive. Sadly, the PlayStation 5 exclusivity means that some fans won’t be able to enjoy the game immediately. At the very least, fans are guaranteed a smooth gameplay experience on the PlayStation 5 instead as there’s bound to be no compromises.

Rachet and Clank Rift Apart for the PlayStation 5 doesn’t have a release date yet. However, there are rumors going around that the game will launch in March next year. Hopefully, the developers officially reveal the release date of the game within the coming months.
