Rarest materials in ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ and where to farm them

Despite the image it fronts, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a pretty tough game. The franchise used to be simple, but the addition of resource management and crafting has made the once casual experience a little more tedious.

Aside from insects and bugs, players of Animal Crossing: New Horizons also have to collect a wide selection of materials. These materials are used to craft DIY recipes and tools for the players. While stones, branches, wood, and weeds, are all easy to come by, there are some components that are pretty rare. Here’s where to find those special items.

Gold Nuggets

Gold Nuggets are used to build gold-grade tools mostly. They can be acquired by hitting rocks in the game. However, their spawn rate is very low. To increase chances of getting Gold Nuggets, it’s best to go on a Mystery Island Tour and hit all of the rocks there.

Before hitting a rock, players should dig out a hole between them and the rock. This ensures that players will be able to negate the recoil of the strike, thus allowing them to get nine resources from the rock.

Bamboo

Bamboo is used to craft certain materials in the game. Aside from that, players can also plant bamboo around their island for design. One of the best ways to get bamboo is by buying a lot of turnips from Daisy Mae during Sunday. Alternatively, players can also come across bamboo islands during a Mystery Island Tour.

All Animal Crossing: New Horizons players need is a bamboo shoot. Once that bamboo shoot grows, it will spawn another shoot beside it. From there on, players can create a farm of their own.

Star Fragment

If players look at the night sky every once in a while, they’ll see meteors soaring through the sky. These are the source for Star Fragments used to create Magic Wands in the game.

Players will need to keep their hands free to get a star. First, they need to wait till night. Then, they have to wait for a meteor to pass by. There are audio cues to hear before a star passes, so it’s easy to spot one. While a meteor is passing, players will need to press A to make a wish. The next morning, there will be Star Fragments on their beach!

These are the best ways to grab the rare resources in Animal Crossing: New HorizonsIf players work hard enough, they’ll have dozens of these materials in no time.
