Ratched season 2 has been given the green light and will return to Netflix. Moreover, lead star Sarah Paulson teases fans of what to expect in the second installment.
The suspenseful drama series, Ratched season 1, is currently streaming on Netflix and is getting positive reviews. It is based on Ken Kesey’s 1962 novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Although the streaming giant has not released the figures, Ratched is part of the top 10 features from all Netflix regions. Owing to the series’ success, Ratched season 2 has secured its spot once again to explore the origin of Nurse Ratched’s criminal mind.
Moreover, season 1 serves as a prequel to the novel. It follows the story of Nurse Mildred Ratched, played by Sarah Paulson. Mildred works as a nurse in one of California’s hospitals, Lucia State Hospital. There, she projects herself as someone calm, self-assured, and full of charisma. However, amid the superficial friendliness is a dark murderous self just waiting to kill.
What happened in “Ratched” season 1
The later episodes of the previous season revealed that nurse Ratched is the sister of the dangerous serial killer, Edmund Tolleson. After killing seven priests, he enters Lucia State Hospital to undergo a psychological evaluation. As the story progresses, Edmund escapes the facility together with patient Charlotte Wells.

Season 1 also unveiled the betrayal of nurse Louise, who later joins Edmund and Charlotte on a road trip. Two years after, Mildred hears the news that Edmund is killing nurses in Chicago.
Mildred to hunt down Edmund
In an interview with The Wrap, Paulson mentioned that Mildred would become hardened because of her brother’s murderous action towards other nurses. She said:
“I think what you do see at the end of this season is that, once Mildred realizes that the very thing she has spent her entire life governed by has betrayed and forsaken her — which is her brother — and has now brought harm and more mayhem by taking the lives of seven innocent women, who are also nurses, she says, ‘I’m coming for you’.”
She further stated:
“And what you are probably going to see is a Mildred who has now become even harder, because the thing that kept her soft was the part of her that was engaged in the love and the protection and the desire for absolution as it pertained to her brother.”
