Dreamcatcher, a K-pop girl trio known for their aggressive releases, spins their perspective on their new summer album with Summer Holiday.
Dreamcatcher, known for its powerful trap-rock tunes, continues to wow its fans with new releases after album. Even their return ideas are often dark and mysterious, ideal for the kind of music they perform.
When Dreamcatcher announced their summer return, fans knew they weren’t going to do it the conventional way with a cheerful, bubblegum-pop tune.
The K-pop girl trio released their sixth EP, Dystopia: Road to Utopia, in January. The album, which included the title track Odd Eye, was full of lively songs in the synthpop-trap genre that the ladies have mastered. With an August roster of sunny and cheerful comebacks, Dreamcatcher’s seventh EP, Summer Holiday, will undoubtedly stand out.
When will it be released?
Summer Holiday, by Dreamcatcher, was released on July 30 at 6 p.m. KST (5 am ET). The album was made available via all major music streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, MelOn, and others.
In both Because and Airplane, Siyeon was in charge of the chorus. Yoohyeon was also involved in the creation of the Whistle chorus. JiU co-wrote the lyrics and contributed to the music for Alldaylong, while Yoohyeon worked on the chorus.
Along with their typical trap tracks, Airplane is a refreshing change of pace, with tropical-pop tones that are ideal for summer, while Alldaylong takes a jazzy turn. The album comes to a close with the heartbreaking song A Heart of Sunflower.
The enthralling concepts
The album’s ideas were pleasantly pleased since they had no idea what to anticipate from the ladies’ summer release.
The girls were deceptively happy in the first round of teasers, relaxing on the beach in a camper van. However, the remaining teasers are dark and gloomy, with the girls clad in ethereal dresses and black leather ensembles reverting to their previous look.
The music video for Because does not disappoint, capitalizing on Dreamcatcher’s talents to produce a frightening but fascinating masterpiece as they sing of addiction masquerading as love. The girls’ doll-like images stand out in the gloomy music video, which uses mirrors and reflects in clothing and settings.
Broken mirrors and forbidden fruits abandoned yet quirky settings and puppet-like movements are all used in the choreography of fairy tales like Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, and Pinocchio.
