The much-awaited reveal of Pokemon Unite was filled with outrage after fans expected that it would be similar to the classic Pokemon games.
The Pokemon Company’s MOBA surprise revelation was filled with disappointment and anger from their fan base. Most of the fans expected that Pokemon Unite is a remake of the Diamond and Pearl games.
Extreme disappointment
The Pokemon Presents video featuring the announcement of Pokemon Unite has reached over 100,000 dislikes. On the other hand, the YouTube video only has 70,000 likes. Moreover, in Mexico, the #PokemonPresents hashtag was the second most commented topic in the country on Twitter and had over 30,000 posts.
However, the majority of the posts were criticizing the latest reveal from The Pokemon Company. Some even took the announcement as a joke. This is proof that more fans are disappointed with the announcement rather than those who are open to the Pokemon MOBA game.
What is MOBA?
For those who don’t know, MOBA stands for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. The upcoming Pokemon Unite game will be of this genre and has been compared to the likes of League of Legends.
The future Pokemon MOBA game will be free-to-play on the Nintendo Switch and for IOS and Android devices. It will feature two 5-man teams battling each other inside a battle arena.
Players will be able to evolve their Pokemon learn new moves inside the battlefield. The goal of the game is to score the most points until the timer runs out.

When is the release of Pokemon Unite?
Last night’s presentation didn’t specify any release dates for Pokemon Unite. Currently, the game’s release date has been listed as To Be Determined
However, the Pokemon MOBA game may be launched as early as this year or in 2021. Regardless, fans are still mad about the announcement.
notice the enormous difference in critical reception between the upcoming sequel to Pokemon Snap (massive response) and Pokemon Unite (*crickets*).
People are straight up tired of MOBAs. (Shooters, too, but that's another problem altogether.)

Pokemon and Tencent
One of the main reasons why fans are disappointed about Pokemon Unite is its connection to Tencent. The upcoming Pokemon MOBA game will be developed by TiMi Studios which is owned by China’s Tencent.
The same studio is responsible for games such as Arena of Valor, Honor of Kings, and Call of Duty Mobile. There are also a lot of fans who are just mad at the upcoming MOBA game because of the hype that was built around the announcement.
Seeing something as mysterious and huge teased after Pokemon Snap and Pokemon Café Mix, the last thing players expected was the announcement of Pokemon Unite.
