Recent leak reveals Motorola Razr 5G revolutionary new design

A recent leak unceremoniously revealed the revolutionary design of the upcoming flip phone, the Motorola Razr 5G.

The Motorola Razr 5G is trying to cash in following the disastrous release of the Samsung Fold. Now, major smartphone manufacturers are joining the flip phone craze. Samsung even released a new model called the Z Flip 5G recently.

Flip phone revolution

Smartphone manufacturers are trying to relive the past glory of the flip phone with a new twist. The once-popular phone design is now being integrated into the smartphone era. However, not all releases are successful, with Samsung Fold being one of the biggest flops in recent history.

Notable tech insider Evan Blass recently shared several photos of what appears to be the Motorola Razr 5G. The leaked images were immediately picked up by several forums and tech blogs.

According to some tech insiders, the phone has an internal codename of Motorola Odyssey. However, the phone will be called Motorola Razr once it hits the market. With the recent move to 5G technology, it comes as no surprise if the phone supports this new network.

Motorola is taking notes from the mistakes its rivals have done in the past. The company’s upcoming flip phone capitalizes on those mistakes and makes new revolutionary design decisions.

For one, the phone has a big screen measuring at about 6.2 inches. The phone also sports thin bezels and extended panels on its top retaining the notch. This design compensates for the rather big chin at the bottom of the phone, which once holds the fingerprint scanner.

It is still unknown, although there are rumors claiming that Motorola will use in-screen fingerprint scanners. Some tech insiders have also noted that the scanner might be embedded on the power button on the side.

Additional specs

The Motorola Razr 5G is expected to use a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 800-series chipset. However, this particular chipset is expensive and might cause the phone’s price to reach a premium level. Motorola can opt to keep its cost down by using less powerful chipset without compromising its features.

As of this writing, the Snapdragon 765 chipset is an affordable alternative, and it supports 5G connectivity. The phone is expected to have 256GB of storage space and at least 8GB of memory.

The new Motorola Razr 5G is expected to debut in September. In terms of price point, the phone is expected to have a retail price of within the range of US$1,400[AU$1,960.87] and US$1,449[AU$2,029.50].
