Redmi 9A and 9C go official with MediaTek’s newest Helio chipsets, 5,000mAh batteries

The Redmi 9A and 9C bank on Redmi’s already established bang-for-your-buck formula in the entry-level segment, ones that are also geared for gaming.

On the hunt for cheaper gaming-oriented handsets? The Redmi 9A and 9C might very well appeal to your needs.

Within the same month the regular Redmi 9 debuted in the international smartphone scene, Redmi has finally unveiled its siblings, the Redmi 9A and 9C. While latest variants’ detailed specs were not officially revealed, their keys specs were nevertheless outed through a Facebook post.

Redmi 9A specifications

Accordingly, the Redmi 9A is built around on a 6.53-inch IPS LCD Dot Drop screen, with a resolution of 720 x 1,600 pixels. The phone also sports a 3D unibody design.

Around the back of the phone is a neat-looking back panel which features a single 13MP camera. Meanwhile, a 5MP selfie shooter is also confirmed to be residing in its notch.

MediaTek’s Helio G25 chipset powers the Redmi 9A. The processor is the Taiwanese chipmaker’s latest budget SoC that is also specially engineered for gaming. The handset is also coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

Apart from its tidy take on design, the Redmi 9A is also noted for its inclusion of a massive 5,000mAh battery. Redmi claims that the accompanying battery has a high charge cycle count and a longer lifespan.

Other key specs of the phone include a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, Bluetooth 5.0, and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Redmi 9C specifications

On the other hand, the Redmi 9C boasts a 6.53-inch IPS LCD screen, with the 9A’s resolution. On its rear, the phone employs a more modern design and set of configurations. It comes with a triple-camera setup that is housed in a squarish module, one that is said to be front-lined by a 13MP selfie snapper.

While the rest of the rear setup’s sensors are still unknown, it is tipped that 5MP macro and 2MP depth lenses could be in the mix. The handset is confirmed with a 5MP selfie snapper that is also housed in a notch.

The Redmi 9C is also fueled by a new MediaTek chipset – the Heli0 G35 SoC. Like the G25, this one is geared for mobile gaming. The phone is also listed with a massive 5,000mAh battery.

Pricing and availability

Launched in Malaysia, the Redmi 9A is priced at RM 359, while the Redmi 9C will set buyers back at RM 429. The former is set to go on sale on July 7 while the latter is slated to follow suit at the end of July.

The sub-brand of Xiaomi is yet to reveal whether the Redmi 9A and 9C will debut in Australia.
