The Redmi K30 Ultra is essentially like the Pro variant of the K30 series, only more affordable and brought its A-game in the display department.
Xiaomi has officially announced the Redmi K30 Ultra. Launched alongside the Mi 10 Ultra, the first “Ultra” from its sub-brand still banks on the same bang-for-your-buck formula, but launches the phone with better features, right in the display department.
Also, the phone’s set of price tags might very well be just what everyone needs at the moment.
Like the Pro but with a high 120Hz refresh rate
The Redmi K30 Ultra takes virtually all its nuances on design from its Pro sibling. It features a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen, with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels, which can be experienced in all its glory, thanks to its notch-less display.
Now, while the Redmi K30 Ultra’s screen is also compliant with HDR10+, the phone outshines its sibling by featuring a high 120Hz refresh rate plus 800 nits of typical brightness.
Note that that Redmi K30 Pro only packs 500 nits of brightness and doesn’t have a high refresh rate at the time of its launch. Nevertheless, Xiaomi has employed a fingerprint reader underneath its display.
MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000+ chip
The more evident change that is found on Redmi’s newest mid-range smartphone is its chipset. At the core of the K30 Ultra is MediaTek’s flagship SoC, the Dimensity 1000+.
The phone is then coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage options; the latter is not expandable.
The Ultra version of the lineup is also listed with a 4,500mAh battery, with 33W fast wired charging.
Familiar camera offerings
The Redmi K30 Ultra still packs the same quadruple cameras on its rear. As such, the setup is headlined by a 64MP wide camera, with auxiliary 13MP ultrawide, 5MP telephoto macro, and 2MP depth sensors.
The Redmi K30 Ultra’s seamless display is made possible by its pop-up mechanism, which houses a 20MP selfie snapper.
On the software front, the device is covered by MIUI 12, based on Android 10. It also has a stereo speaker setup, linear vibration motor, and Bluetooth 5.1. Additionally, there is NFC, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C, and 5G, of course.
Pricing and availability
The Redmi K30 Ultra is confirmed to be priced at CNY 1,999 for its base 6GB/128GB edition. Its 8GB/128GB variant will retail for CNY 2,199, while its 8GB/256GB model will carry a price tag of CNY 2,499.
Finally, its 8GB/512GB edition will feature a price tag of CNY 2,699.
The Redmi K30 Ultra is set to go on sale in China on August 14.
