Reese Witherspoon has, reportedly, managed to save her family’s finances with the recent sales of Hello Sunshine for $900 million.
According to National Enquirer, Reese Witherspoon and her family were struggling with their finances last year after her husband, Jim Toth was forced to close down his company.
Toth was, allegedly, devastated by his decision to close down Quibi. And it also bruised his ego because he wanted to be the one to bring in the big bucks.
“It was a big comedown. Jim had quit his big Hollywood gig to take it. Reese supported him through it all, but it had to bruise his ego,” the source said.
Reese Witherspoon, Jim Toth struggled financially last year
According to the source, Witherspoon and Toth were forced to sell several of their properties last year to make up for what they lost following Quibi’s end.
But luckily for the Big Little Lies actress, she was able to turn things around.
“This has been a magic carpet ride for Reese and a dream come true. Hello Sunshine was worth nothing when it started and now she’s sold it for almost a billion dollars,” the source said.
Reese Witherspoon sells Hello Sunshine for $900 million
Earlier this month, Variety confirmed that Reese Witherspoon was able to sell Hello Sunshine for north of $900 million to a media company backed by Blackstone.
Following the deal, the actress released a statement.
“Today marks a tremendous moment for Hello Sunshine. I started this company to change the way all women are seen in media. Over the past few years, we have watched our mission thrive through books, TV, film, and social platforms. Today, we’re taking a huge step forward by partnering with Blackstone, which will enable us to tell even more entertaining, impactful, and illuminating stories about women’s lives globally,” she said.
Rumors debunked
And while it is true that Witherspoon’s husband had to sell Quibi last year, there is no proof that their family struggled financially.
Even though Toth had to sell his company, Witherspoon was still raking in millions from her other projects like Big Little Lies, The Morning Show, and Little Fires Everywhere.
