The success of Capcom with Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes suggests that there could be more reinvigorations to come. Now, it seems like fans already know what game is coming next.
Last week, Capcom was seen doing a survey through which fans were asked a few questions about the Resident Evil series. One of the questions in the said survey was whether or not fans would be willing to play another remake on one of the games from Resident Evil.
According to recent rumors, Resident Evil 8 is already in the works, and it could even be revealed this month. As revealed by the survey, however, Capcom is working on a few things more. For the remake, the rumor mill suggests that one of the best entries in the franchise is due for the remake treatment next.
Is Resident Evil 4 Next?
A recent report says that Capcom has finally greenlit the Resident Evil 4 Remake, and it’s now in the works. This should excite fans heavily as the game is regarded not only as the best Resident Evil game but also as one of the best games on the PlayStation 2.
Development on the game is already in full swing, and the estimated release date is in 2022. While still far off, fans still have the two other remakes and Resident Evil Resistance, to keep them busy. Furthermore, fans will also allegedly get Resident Evil 8 next year.
The studio spearheading the project will be M-Two. It’s a new studio established and founded by PlatinumGames head Tatsuya Minami. While the project has only been given the go signal now, the team has apparently been prepping for it since 2018. Capcom and the teams that work on Resident Evil games will be supporting M-Two throughout development.
In even better news, Shinji Mikami, the original director of Resident Evil 4, has also given M-Two his blessing to start the work on the game. Surprisingly, he turned down work on developing himself, but it is said that he will still provide guidance for M-Two.
What Is Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 4 launched on the PlayStation 2 in 2005. Due to its success, the game has been re-released on multiple consoles such as the Wii, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
The game is one of the first entries in the series that changed the view from a top-down perspective to the now more common third-person view. Leading the game once again is Leon Kennedy, the lead from Resident Evil 2. This time, he is tasked with saving the US president’s daughter from a mysterious cult.
We’re most likely not getting any footage soon as work has just begun. Still, we’re sure that fans are more than eager to see just how much the game will change after the remake.
