The remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 has been a huge success. Now, Capcom is looking to continue its horror survival franchise with Resident Evil 8.
Rumors of the next Resident Evil game has been popping around for years, but has really started to spread this year now that the remakes are done.
While the two recent remakes were absolutely great, they are missing the best thing that made Resident Evil 7: Biohazard a success – a VR mode. It was regarded as the best and scariest VR experience on any existing system.
Confirmation of a VR mode for Resident Evil 8 came from a short comment from Gematsu’s website. The report states that Resident Evil can also be played in VR mode much like its predecessor.
This means the game will allow users to play the entire game in VR mode and in first person view.
According to rumors, we could expect to see Resident Evil 8 released by 2021 as the earliest. The new game will reportedly be called Resident Evil 8: Village.
The “Village” subtitle will cater to some clever wordplay that represents the roman numeral for the number 8.
According to a leaker, the next Resident Evil game was supposed to be a spin-off of Resident Evil Revelations but was later transformed to Resident Evil 8. The leaker also stated that the game will be announced before the year ends.
Based on existing speculations and leaks, Ethan Winters, the hero of Resident Evil 7, will play a major role in the future game. Chris Redfield, a series mainstay who made a cameo at the end of Resident Evil 7 is also expected to have a huge role in the next game series.
According to rumors, Chris will appear in Ethan’s memories along with his wife and child. Reports state that Chris’ role will be cryptic and will most certainly end up to becoming a villainous character.
At the end of Resident Evil 7, Ethan finally defeated Eveline – a bioweapon that contaminated an entire family and transformed them into crazy murderers.
According to leaks, Resident Evil 8 will again feature Ethan and will be set in a snowy rural village somewhere in Europe which will lead into a castle.
These rumors confirm that the classic zombies we’ve known and loved from the game will make a comeback.
