A recent promotional video shows how the upcoming Welcome to Raccoon City compares to the games in the series so far.
To be specific, the film directly makes a scene-by-scene comparison with 2018’s Resident Evil 2 Remake. It’s also because the rebooted film is mostly based on the first two original games in the franchise.
So far, the famous gaming saga has been unfortunate in terms of having solid big-screen adaptations.
Despite earning a significant amount of money, the past Resident Evil movie adaptations heavily disappointed. All the entries had Milla Jovovich in the leading role of Alice, but none of them impressed the critics in terms of performances and story treatment.
On the other hand, the upcoming reboot looks to be a true live-action adaptation of the source material. And its director has tried to show that in the latest video. It depicts how each of the iconic moments from the games is done in the movie.
For example, the famous Raccoon City Orphanage from RE 2 Remake looks the same in the film as well. Then there are the mansion and the RPD that are almost identical to their game counterparts. All in all, the rebooted film looks promising in its entirety.
So far, based on the trailer, it also seems like the movie will have tons of gaming Easter Eggs and references.
However, there’s still doubt among the hardcore fans of the iconic horror gaming franchise. It’s yet to be seen whether or not this reboot will succeed in delivering a solid storyline.
There are many fingers crossed at the moment. But eventually, everything will be clear once the film is actually out.
Upcoming video game adaptations
Meanwhile, Resident Evil is not the only franchise witnessing big, live-action adaptations. Several other famous titles are also getting their own shows and movies!
There is a Borderlands film, arriving very soon. Currently, it’s in the production phase. It will have a star-studded cast, including Jamie Lee Curtis and Cate Blanchett. Other actors include Florian Munteanu, Ariana Greenblatt, Gina Gershon, Bobby Lee, and many more.
HBO is also busy with its TV series based on The Last of Us series. It will have The Mandalorian star, Pedro Pascal, playing the iconic Joel. Along with him, Game of Thrones‘ Bella Ramsey will portray Ellie.
The Uncharted franchise will also see its live-action movie adaptation, with the future title featuring Tom Holland as Nathan Drake.
Coming back to Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, again, then it will release next month in theaters on November 24.
